Reduce
the risk of injuries by creating a hazard free workplace and maintaining
a healthy work force.
ERGONOMIC
JOB ANALYSIS
 |
The OSHA General Duty Clause requires employers to provide a work
place free from hazards!
The
first step in a comprehensive work injury prevention program is
the ergonomic job analysis. An Ergonomic Job Analysis provides measurable,
job-related data. It clearly defines the exact physical requirements
of any given job and identifies risk factors which may led to injury.
All facets of the job are examined and measured. |
| Examples
include: |
|
-
major job tasks
- working
postures (lifting, reaching, carrying)
- walkways
(level surfaces, ramps, stairs)
- work
area design: heights, tools, surfaces
|
-
weight/force
- distance
- repetition/endurance
- dimensions
of objects
|
| Safety
hazards are identified and corrected, reducing the risk to employees. |
EMPLOYEE
FITNESS
You
wouldn’t buy a $30,000 machine and not maintain it, why hire employees
and not maintain them?
| Improving
and maintaining employee fitness levels can reduce injuries. It
is well documented that as employee fitness improves, absenteeism
and injury rates decrease. Other benefits include improved productivity,
lower workers' compensation costs, lower health care costs, and
increased employee morale.
Benefits
are not limited to the employer. Employee benefits include weight
loss, increased strength, improved posture, improved mood state,
less illness and injury, an improved feeling of ‘well-being’. |

“The
25 employees who have continued with their pre-work stretching routine
have not had any work injuries or near misses; they are more aware
of safety and fitness”

The
Work Performance Center, Inc. offers two fitness programs to employers:
universal and job-specific.
The
more tailored the program to a given job, the greater the benefits obtained.
With double digit increases in both workers’ compensation and group
health premiums, employers and workers need some assistance. Fitness programs
benefit both groups and are easy to implement. WPC worker fitness programs
are designed to be led by employee leaders, with monthly updates by our
professional staff.
